A few years ago, I loved hanging out with a wonderful group of friends. We always had so much fun. Between our friends Mary, Matt, and Ryan there was never a shortage of clever or off-the-wall schemes and activities. Some of the entertainment I would provide were reading stories and headlines from my hometown's paper The Arco Advertiser. After a few weeks of stories, these friends developed a challenge. The challenge was quite simple. The first person to get into the Arco Advertiser would win. They would not win a prize but they would win everyone's respect. This challenge went unmet.

Of course, Trent won the challenge because our picture was in the Arco Advertiser for our wedding. I would like to submit, however, that Matt and Ryan are the honorary winners of this competition! As I opened this weeks paper, I found two lettes to the editor. One from Matt and one from Ryan. They were ridiculously funny...and a little embarrassing for me.

Bridal Shower

I had a few specifications for my bridal shower: no games and tasty food. Lucky for me, my dear friend Mary offered to host a bridal shower in my honor. Mary is well known for her hosting and cooking abilities. With help from a few other great friends the shower came together perfectly.

A month before the shower, I got a phone call from my very excited mother. She exclaimed, "We got our tickets!" I asked, "We?" She informed me that herself, my grandmother, my two sisters-in-law, my nephew, aunt, and sweet cousin were also going to come for the shower. I was beyond excited. Then of course, I became overwhelmed with emotion and gratitude for these wonderful people that are in my life. Luckily, we had just rented our new apartment. We moved all our furniture in and my family came to visit.

The bridal shower was wonderful. It is great to be surrounded by family and friends that I have made since being in DC. We at some delicious fondue. Someone told me "I have never seen people eat this much at bridal showers." A bunch of great friends chipped in and got me a Kitchenaid - all women should have one. The gift that got the most reaction was from my grandmother. She gave me a coconut bra. I blushed and she just smiled at me and said "it will be good for the beach, don't you think?" I love my grandmother.

The rest of the weekend was for site seeing with my family. Most of them had not been here so it was a treat to share a piece of my world with them. It was especially fun to be with my cousin Kate and nephew Collin. They have a whole different outlook on life that I just love to see.

Welcome Back

Friends and Family,

I am back! In case you want to know, yes, there will be some make up posts for the month of May. May was exciting: seven of my family members flew in for my bridal shower and for site seeing, Trent's family came into town for his graduation, we got married, and we went to Mexico. It is going to take quite a few postings to do these amazing events justice.

I am excited to share some of the highlights!
