A Saturday Surprise

Every once and a while Trent and I will look on the USAJOBS website and imagine the places we could move to at some point in our lives.  Yes, I know, we think too much.

This Saturday was one of those days. Trent found a listing for an attorney position in Winchester, VA, population 23,000.  Aww... wouldn't that be wonderful: a slower pace of life and still be a drive away from D.C.  We were imagining such a life and Trent suggested that we go check it out someday.  I excitedly asked, "Today?"  The next thing we knew we were in the car driving west.

Winchester was a wonderful surprise.  It is the home of the Shanandoah Apple Blossom Festival that is taking place in the next few weeks.  There is this charming Old Town in the city.  It is blocked off from traffic and is full of outdoor sitting, restaurants, fun shops, an old court house, a church, and the best little drive-in, the Snow White Grill, that sold yummy mini burgers and a fantastic chocolate shake.

I am ready to move.

This was a fun way to tell the time: you stand on the month and then your shadow tells the time.

I bought a $1 book from this bookstore: The Hurried Child.

The largest apple in the WORLD!!!
