Going once, going twice, sold!!!

Peter, Me, Derek

Every year my ward has a service auction to raise Christmas money for families in our stake. It is my favorite ward activity. We have a professional auctioneer that persuades people to open their wallets for the cause. I have to hand it to the ward for being so creative in what they put up for auction.

Here are a few of the big ticket/ intriguing items put up for auction by some of my close friends:

- Michael auctioned off handgun shooting lessons. This went for $250 and he sold two of them!! I have gone with him before and I would agree that it was worth the price.

- Peter auctioned off a four pack of D.C. tours (capitol, white house, library of congress, and supreme court.) He also sold two of these for $250 each.

- A singing telegram from Dan Nelson and Matt Waldrip, which was bought by their roommate Matt Phillips. I hope to see this one in action. The price: $ 75. Dan singing and dancing: priceless.

I purchased Kim's homemade French Silk pies and knitting lessons. My favorite quote of the night was when Peter made a bid. The auctioneer said, "45 to the man in the argyle." I love men in argyle. At the end of the night, I found two handsome men, Peter and Derek, in argyle.......I was in heaven.

It was a great evening and we were able to raise $7,000. My ward never ceases to amaze me with their talents and generosity.

I think it bears noting that I started the argyle revolution.

And now everyone and their dog thinks they can pull it off...interesting.

I got Argyle Sweaters for Christmas 2004 and rocked the Argyle sweater vest in High School. Recognize. Mandy thank you for featuring me prominently on your blog.
