Me, Justin, Eric, and Levi with Santa -- just love our clothes and hair!!
Every year I make a Christmas list of things I want or need and then send it to my mother. It usually contains completely ridiculous wants: a new car, peace on Earth, or my very own husband. My mom usually will chuckle and then say "really, what do you want?"
This year I was making the list and I noticed it is a big reflection on how my life is changing. In the past few months, I have resisted the idea of being an adult. Sure, I follow through with adult responsibilities but I have always felt like a semi-adult. This has all changed with the occurrence of applying for my LCSW license. For me, this is a right of passage into the adult world. I have procrastinated (until last week) getting in all of the licensure materials since I was not sure if I was ready for this step in my life.
As I was making my list, I realized that they were all items that I would use for work and specifically for a private practice. This must mean that I am getting closer to being a full-time adult. However, this is a paradox since all of the items were children's toys/ books. No matter how hard I try to grow up it seems that I will always be a Toys R' Us kid.
