Dan, Mandy, Jenny, Mary, Joe, Jay, and Dan at the Dairy Godmother
Today was the first snowfall of the season. It was beautiful to have snow covered trees and lightly falling snow. One reason I love living in Virginia is that people get so concerned about the snow, especially when it comes to driving. Today we ended up with a few inches of snow and my work closed early. That would never happen in the west. In fact, in Arco we just drive on top of snow packed roads for the entire winter. When I was living in Baltimore, they once closed the schools because there were flurries. I was shocked!!!In order to celebrate the first snow fall, Mary suggested that we get ice cream. She stated that it was a "slap in mother natures face." I simply think that we are embracing the cold months ahead. Any way you look at it, we went to The Dairy Godmother and had frozen custard. Today's special was Cranberry Crunch and it was delightful with cranberries and oatmeal. The Dairy Godmother is a real treat and all within the DC area should experience this quaint shop.

Jenny and I * Dan points out the Star of David
Then we went back home and played in the snow. The Melrose is picturesque with snow on the sidewalks and trees and snow falling around the lamp posts.

This post was intended as a response to the State of the Peter speech. I was going to post it to his blog but due to your chummy nature you have with Peter I thought I would post it to your blog and let you share it with him.
Yes I agree the playful sexual tension between Mandy’s and Peter’s sites is very obvious and as their sites have become more mature and developed in the last year the truth comes spilling out in their posts. You guys are not very stealth about your online flirting. Have fun trying to keep each other in the friends zone in the New Year. Oh and yes Peter if you happen to screw up the Mandy thing (and you will) here is some advise for you as you entice the women in 2008. Put a shirt on Peter unless its your Steve Young jersey burn it…its not in style any more but I guess if you have already crossed the line and you are still going to wear one of those guy beaded necklaces then the Steve Young jersey is just is the least of your problems.
Least you believe that I have jumped to my own conclusions I have the results of a research project that I conducted on your site below.
Here is a look back at some of the material about Peter and Mary on Peter’s site. I would encourage some one to do the same for Mandy’s site. I trust that it will be even more of the same. You are wonderful, can’t wait to see you, my how I admire you, what fun we are having oh wait we are such good friends….blah blah blah..I am sooooo glad we are such good friends… yada yada yada I want all my friends to be set up with you since you are such a great guy just not for me. I think I just threw up in my mouth. Please lock it up or at least find some mistletoe. Least I am accused of drawing my own conclusions. Here are the facts below.
Brian Rowland aka B-Rock aka Brain is the latest of my friends to start a blog. I plan on linking to all my friends blogs because there are some excellent, insightful, and funny writers out there. Brian is no exception. Tia, Mandy, Shane, Matt, Tracy, Jim and Bethany all have blogs I check daily.
We missed Mandy and Mary while they were in the 'Burgh.

We missed you too... if you would like to feel as though you were there, please refer to Mandys blog. There is even a video montage
Matt, Mandy, and Myself left the Melrose at about 6:19 pm. It was heavy traffic all the way to Baltimore.

Peter,
What a wonderful occasion and blessing for Hayden and for you, especially at this time. I am sure that your mom was not just proud of Hayden but also very proud of you. You are a great uncle, friend, and person. I am so glad we are friends. By the way, the family is adorable.

What at fantastic posting by such a fantastic man. Happy Birthday!!! I am glad that you were born and I am sure that your dad did not miss it. If he did, I think he has been making up for it for the past 27 years.
Peter, you really are genuine. I appreciated your comments about your mom. Thanks for being so real about the whole situation. I loved when we said why we loved you. Even more, I appreciated your own comments. They were tender and caused me to tear up.
Happy Birthday, you are loved.
P.S. Mary and I played MASH and found out that we get married. I guess the temperature gets adjusted.
P.P.S Mary is truly the best event planner around. She does it effortlessly.

Peter thanks for your honesty about the dating life. I will not be that honest on my blog becuase some people would be offend, others would cry, and I could possibly ruin someones life. Wow!!! What a year for me.
However, I did want to say something about dating. Yes, it sucks. It seems like either someone likes you but you don't like them or you like someone but they don't like you. This is a universal (men, women, dc, not dc) experience. However, we can't stress it. We just have to find someone we enjoy spending time with and respect (sure there are a few more things) and then give it a go. We don't have any control over whether or not that other person will feel the same.
I was talking to Mcmary the other day about you and Dan. We discussed how you were great guys and the would someday become great husbands -- when the time is right.
In the meantime, if you need some hugs or snuggling....I am game.

I’m gonna do it. I used to be pretty good at Monday Haiku but lately I seem to forget to do it. Mary has always been good at reminding me about that. I would like to thank Mandy, Dan, Kaylyn, and Mary McMullen for being the most prolific commenters.

I think that you are entirely wonderful. I really enjoyed reading all of this. Is sounds like this girl Mandy may be telling you something. And, even though you've already stated that, "she's cute, I'm just not into her" I know a certain individual that is currently digging you. Hey, you never know!! And please respond to my phone calls sometimes. It's rude not to.

P.S.
I love you Peter, I am just not in love with you. Just saying.
Mandy Lin said...
Yes Peter you dominated...especially on my blog today. I do not want to dominate. I want a simple, sweet life that is full of contentment...not domination.

I am also glad that you did not have to use your chapstick. That would have been ackward for everyone involved.
The Yankees have what might be considered a do or die series against the hated Red Sox and then my beloved Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim visit the Big Apple. Janelle and Mandy dressed up last night to show their loyalties and I couldn't help but join in in the act.

Will you think of me next time you eat in-n-out? I like the idea of you waxing philosophically. I think you should go ahead and write about your shoes and your friends.
P.S. The theme for August is "go ahead."
Also, we miss you immensly and we love you more.

Peter,
When you get back, can we date. I am looking for a husband.
Haha.
I miss you!!!

I love families!!! This one is especially adorable.

Wow. I simply do not have words but I will try.
1- You guys are funny.
2- You guys are trouble makers.
3- You guys are dominating the Orioles scene.
4- You guys are some of my greatest heroes at this time.

I agree with both you and Brian. I hate mingling. It is painful. I dislike talking with people that I am not close with and will most likely not be close with.
So why do I do it? Because I am single and I someday want to get married and this is the price to be paid.
Frustration.
Things I Love
So here are a few things that I love. Certainly it isn't everything but here are a few things.
Hanging out with Mandy and Mary eating Oreos and discussing the importance of T-Zones, Outsourcing, and selection. All crucial things.
Mandy Lin said...
I also love hanging out with you and Mary, eating cookies, and discussing very important matters. I love your blog!!!
Mary said...
I basically agree with things alreay said by Mandy and Brian:
1.) I too love oreos, you and Mandy. Good times.
2.) Just like Brian, I love (and miss) your long flowing locks.
I completely disagree with Dan:
1.) Don't cut that hair, you are no hippy; just hip.

Peter I miss you. Every day I ask "is Peter home?" I am glad that your mom is doing well. Your family is in my prayers. I can't wait to hug you.

I am beautiful, sports loving, politically minded, and Mormon. What have we been missing all this time?
Mandy Lin said...
I have been looking everywhere for him. Have you found him yet?

Peter,
You amaze me. Going to Disneyland with that many children = a saint.

You would have dominated Butte County High School.
It was now or never for our costumes to come together. Dale had told me that there was another costume shop on Four Mile Run so we decided to check that one out but this time we had a secret weapon...Mandy Jensen…I went and found Brian and Dan and told them they must put it on. Like good soldiers they did just that. We found Mandy and she laughed quite hard when she saw us. It was just the reaction I was looking for…..We picked up an extra costume for Matt and were on our way. We made a quick stop at the Shoe Rack where Dan and Brian bought Converse Allstars, the official shoe of the Cobra Kai and Mandy bought an adorable pair of Rocket Dog slip ons. We had snatched victory from the jaws of a near Halloween defeat. We then made a quick stop at Walmart for white gloves and do rags…Our lovely, sweet, and hot neighbors Kami, Diana, and Jenny came as Luigi, Mario, and the tooth fairy respectively. Mandy was a beautiful rodeo queen, Mary and Joe John were LOL KATZ, Jenell was the Morton's salt girl, and Miss Beal (As voted by both Dan and I ) was a Scottish Bar Wench (and a lovely one at that).

True.
First, I would like to point out that the above comment is disturbing and borderline psychotic...wait, no I stand corrected, it's not borderline psychotic, it IS psychotic.
Second, I enjoyed spending the first snow with good friends at Dairy Godmother and the Cranberry Crunch was very delicious. But the fact that we went and got ice cream was also very disturbing, then again it was McMary's idea so what do you expect?
To anonymous,
Obviously Peter and I flirt. We are natural flirters. However, I am concerned about you for many reasons.
1- The fact that you would put this much effort into such a negative activity.
2- Your research is biased.
3- You might be jealous of my friendship with Peter.
In conclusion, you might be well served to seek a good friend and talk about what is on your mind, what is going on in your life, and your emotions. It seems you are displacing your own internal rage on to me and Peter. Good luck and I hope you find what you need.
Mandy & Peter:
I am sorry that you were just cyber-bullied. Out of line.
Mandy:
Thank you for this blog post. I loved slapping mother nature in the face today.
Dan Clark:
Thanks for joining us. I am glad to know that even though you thought the icecream on snow day was absurd, you still chose to spend time with fellow Melrosers. I don't think you were dissapointed... which leads me to think that actually it was a fantastic idea.
A) Whoever 'anonymous' is, ... the mere fact that you took time to put together that poppycock is an insult enough upon your own self so I will refrain from expressing my own insults... I got bored after the first paragraph and stopped reading anyway.
B) Yes, The East Coast does hate snow... one time in NYC we recieved a good snow storm even by Utah standards but even then, I have never known everything down to the 24 hour laundry mat to shut down at 6 pm...
C) Of Course arco is a bit different considering it has a population of 200 people and cities on the east have 2 million plus!!!
Once a man who had been slandered by a newspaper came to Edward Everett asking what to do about it. Said Everett, "Do nothing! Half the people who bought the paper never saw the article. Half of those who saw it, did not read it. Half of those who read it, did not understand it. Half of those who understood it, did not believe it. Half of those who believed it are of no account anyway" ("Sunny Side of the Street," Nov. 1989; see also Zig Ziglar, Staying Up, Up, Up in a Down, Down World [2000], 174).
I am sad that I missed out on the celebration of the first snow. I am also sad for the slanderous comments about Peter and Mandy...I love you both and think you are great!
Kay-- I wish you could have been there to play with us in the snow. You would have loved it. I would have loved to have you there.
